ANGLERS & HUNTERS CALL TO ACTION!
Animal Cruelty Bill Threatens Fishing, Hunting and Trapping

Bill C-50, the latest in a long line of animal cruelty legislation is currently making its way through the House of Commons. This bill contains serious flaws which will allow it to be used to threaten the practices of hunting, fishing, trapping, farming and other animal uses. The O.F.A.H. and all of our affiliates across the country are strongly opposed to this legislation, unless it is amended to provide protection against frivolous charges being laid against anglers and hunters by animal rights activists, which they have promised to do.

The animal rights community is engaged in a public campaign to gain support for the bill and is asking members of the public to write to their Member of Parliament (M.P.) in support of Bill C-50 (Click here for your M.P.'s mailing address).

In response to their actions, attached you will find a copy of a standard letter to local Members of Parliament opposing the bill, unless it is amended to provide the outdoor community with the necessary protections we seek. All you have to do is print the letter and send it to your local M.P. It is important that you act on this now, because the debate around this piece of legislation will be taking place over the next few weeks. The government wants to pass the bill before the end of the session, which is only expected to last until early December. Your help is needed now. We need to let the government know that thousands of anglers and hunters in Ontario will not stand idly by and let our right to hunt, fish and trap be threatened. Every reasonable person agrees that anyone who abuses animals should be punished, but giving the animal rights community the means of attacking legal, law-abiding anglers, hunters and trappers can not be tolerated.

Please act now by downloading the letter and sending it to your M.P.!
