London man wins provincial hunting heritage award

The OFAH/Doug Ogston Memorial Ontario Hunting Heritage Award is presented annually to a person or persons for their outstanding involvement in the development and delivery of the Ontario Hunter Education Program and the promotion of Ontario’s hunting heritage.

This year’s award went to Emad Hazboun, of London, Ontario, who has been instrumental in starting and teaching the Long Point youth camp hunter education and firearms safety course, which just completed its fifth year.

Emad has been an Ontario Hunter Education instructor since 2001 and remains very active in both hunter education and the Canadian firearms safety programs. The Egyptian native loves to hunt and is proud to be a part of the hunting heritage in his adopted country. He can be found most weekends instructing eager students, both young and old, many of whom are new Canadians.

The OFAH/Doug Ogston Memorial Ontario Hunting Heritage Award was recently renamed in honour of a well-respected and important member of the OFAH family. Doug was on the OFAH Board of Directors for over 44 years and served as OFAH President from 1980 to 1982. He was a long-time member of the Copper Cliff Rod and Gun Club and his contributions to the OFAH are legendary.
