Tillsonburg couple wins OFAH Larry Wallace Memorial Volunteer Award

Tireless youth education volunteers Lynda and Dale Ouellette received the Larry Wallace Memorial Volunteer Award at the OFAH Annual General Meeting and Fish and Wildlife Conference held on March 20 in Mississauga. The award recognizes a person or persons who have helped to ensure the future of conservation by sharing their experience, knowledge and love of the outdoors with youth.

Larry Wallace was a long-time OFAH member, zone chair, director and dedicated conservationist. He had a keen interest in introducing youth to the wonders of the outdoors and recognized that youth were key to the future of hunting and angling.

While several outstanding candidates were nominated for the award, the judges thought that Lynda and Dale stood out from the rest. The two have been long-standing volunteers at the Get Outdoors Youth Leadership Conference held every year in March, in conjunction with the OFAH Annual Conference, but it is their contributions at the Get Outdoors Summer Youth Camps that really sets them apart. While other adults assist for one or two camps, this couple is there for three, or like last year, all four camps.

“Other summer camp volunteers greatly appreciate the hard work and dedication from these two, who, as they put it, have a ‘no questions asked, let’s get it done’ type of attitude when it comes to getting involved and community service. This is a rare find, but, indeed, this couple has it,” said OFAH President Glenn Rivard.
