MNR Outdoors Card Update
The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has introduced new ways to get your Ontario fishing and hunting licences and is having some implementation challenges with the new automated licensing system. You may experience temporary delays during the transition period.
Here’s what the MNR is advising users to do.
If you are waiting for your Outdoors Card to arrive:
Outdoor Cards bought in November or December were mailed between January 10 and February 1, 2012. MNR apologizes for the delay in delivery during the transition to the new system. If you bought a duplicate card online in order to overcome system or delivery problems, please contact the Outdoors Card Centre toll-free at 1-800-387-7011 and a refund will be processed.
Shipping of Outdoors Cards is now back on schedule. If you have purchased your licence and have not received your card within 20 days, call the Ontario Outdoors Card Centre toll-free at 1-800-387-7011.
Using the new system:
You have three options – you can go online and print your own licence, call MNR’s interactive phone line or get your licence over the counter at selected ServiceOntario centres or private issuers.
Buying your licence online:
You can now buy your licence from the convenience of your home by going to www.Ontario.ca/outdoorscard.
Print your e-licence and keep it with you when you fish or hunt. It serves as your temporary licence. Your Outdoors Card will arrive in approximately 20 days.
If you can not print your e-licence, call the Outdoors Card Centre toll-free at 1-800-387-7011 and they will print and mail you a copy.
Buying your licence over the phone:
Call MNR’s interactive phone line toll-free at 1-800-288-1155, which is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Your Outdoors Card will arrive in approximately 20 days.
Buying your fishing or hunting licence in person:
As of September 1, 2012, there are 68 Service Ontario locations in Ontario ready to issue licences right away.
There are also hundreds of year-round local issuers ready to issue licences right away.
To find the closest place for service in-person go to www.Ontario.ca/outdoorscard. The list is updated and growing daily.
When you purchase in person, bring your Outdoors Card – even if expired – and know your postal code. You will also be asked for your birth date. You will immediately receive a temporary licence and/or Outdoors Card printed on durable stock.
For all other inquiries about purchasing or renewing your Outdoors Card and fishing and hunting licenses, please call the MNR Outdoors Card Centre toll-free at 1-800-387-7011 Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
