It's time for the next step in elk restoration

Before the end of the 1800's, elk were native to the southern half of Ontario. Today, the restoration of elk to their former Ontario range is well underway. Between 1998 and 2001, the Ministry of Natural Resources (M.N.R.), with help from the O.F.A.H. and other partners, reintroduced and released elk into four former range areas. The greatest growth has been in the Bancroft-North Hastings elk herd, which now numbers up to 500 animals, twice the huntable threshold. Minister Cansfield has confirmed that an elk management planning process will soon be underway, and that O.F.A.H. input will be sought early in the development of a plan and elk tag allocation system.

As a matter of policy, the O.F.A.H. stands for equitable access to public hunting and fishing opportunities for all Ontario residents.

HUNTER SURVEY- we need your input.

Question: What should the lottery for the first Ontario elk hunt in the 21st century look like? In a scenario where ten bull tags would be available by lottery–eight in a general low-cost lottery and two in a higher cost lottery–how would you be willing to participate?
Please check ALL that apply to you. I am a hunter who would purchase an elk hunt license lottery ticket for:

an Ontario resident-only lottery ~ $20 entry fee
an Ontario resident-only lottery ~ $50 entry fee
an Ontario resident-only lottery ~ $100 entry fee
an open lottery ~ $100 entry fee
