Who May attend the Women’s Outdoor Weekend
The OFAH Women’s Outdoor Weekend is open to all female OFAH members that are at least 19 years of age. If you are not a member you may join by visiting www.ofah.org/join or calling the OFAH at (705) 748-6324.
Do I need an OFAH membership to register for the Women’s Outdoor Weekend?
You do not need a membership to register, however you are required to have a membership one month after the registration. If you wish to become a member prior to registration, or would like some more information visit www.ofah.org/join or call (705) 748-6324 and ask for the membership department.
Please note: participants need to be a member either as an individual or as part of a family membership. If your spouse is currently a member, then a family membership is more economical.
How Much Does it Cost?
Visit www.ofah.org/wow to see this year’s registration cost, details about the weekend. The cost of registration includes all meals and accommodations. A more affordable women’s outdoor weekend won’t be found elsewhere!
How do I register online?
At 10:00 am on the day of registration, a link will appear “Register Online”. Clear instructions are provided through the registration software. Full payment via credit card (Visa or MasterCard) will be required at the time of online registration.
A detailed information package will be emailed to you one month prior to the event date. This information package will include: packing list, map and directions, arrival and departure times, as well as information on what to expect.
Can I call in to register?
No. Due to the number of spots available, volume of applicants and the first-come first-serve basis, registration will be online only to make it as equitable as possible.
Event Site Details
Where is the event?
WOW is held at the Kinark Outdoor Centre (KOC), 15 minutes north of Minden, Ontario. The KOC is located on its own private lake surrounded by 243 acres of wetlands and mature forest.
What are the accommodations?
Each cabin sleeps four to eight women and are equipped with two-piece washroom facilities and are located a short distance from the shower house and washroom facilities. Visit the Kinark Outdoor Centre website, for more facility descriptions and photos. All food is provided, and any dietary requirement can be accommodated if the dietary need is provided during registration.
What do I need to bring? Packing List
The OFAH Women’s Outdoor Weekend Program will provide all program equipment needed. A list of specific items that you will need to bring will be included in an information package emailed to you one month prior to the event. These items will include personal belongings, such as sleeping bag, pillow, clothing, bug spray, sunscreen, etc.
Can I request to be in the same group or cabin as a friend or family member?
Upon registration, any requests can be added. Groups and cabin assignments are randomized if not requested. All efforts will be made to meet your requests, although, the Women’s Outdoor Weekend Program highly suggests taking this opportunity to meet new people.
Do I need money?
Although all food and program equipment is provided, you may wish to bring money for program branded clothing, raffle prizes and a 50/50 draw.
