Happy campers “Get Outdoors” at O.F.A.H. Summer Leadership Camp in Huntsville
Next week, 160 of Ontario’s most enthusiastic young anglers and hunters will take part in the annual Get Outdoors Summer Leadership Camp, proudly presented by the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (O.F.A.H.).
“The O.F.A.H. Get Outdoors Summer Leadership Camp is the only camp of its kind in Ontario. It offers a unique blend of personal leadership development, conservation education, outdoor safety training and hands-on exposure to a wide variety of traditional outdoors pursuits including bass and walleye fishing, 3-D archery and target shooting,” said O.F.A.H. Get Outdoors Coordinator, Keith Beecroft.
The O.F.A.H. presents two, four-day camps, starting on Saturday, July 14 running to July 22. The O.F.A.H. camp, located on North Fox Lake in the heart of the Muskokas, is enjoyed by boys and girls, ages 8 to 18, from all over the province.
“My daughter and two boys have attended other summer camps before but they keep telling their cousins and friends that Get Outdoors camp is the best,” said Paul Ferdinands, of Barrie. “The O.F.A.H. puts on a great camp that gets kids back into our great traditions of fishing, hunting and conservation. The Federation has provided life-improving experiences that our children will never forget. We are proud to be members of an organization that does so many great things to get families, like ours, involved in the great outdoors,” he said.
O.F.A.H. summer camp is an outreach program of the national award-winning O.F.A.H. Get Outdoors initiative that has inspired the creation of dozens of youth conservation clubs throughout the province. The O.F.A.H. Get Outdoors Summer Leadership Camp has also been an overwhelming success since it began in 2002. This year, both camps were filled in less than three weeks.
