Women’s outdoor weekend doubles the fun
O.F.A.H. responds to demand for second women’s outdoor weekend event

Today is registration day for the new spring session of Women’s Outdoor Weekend. The popular outreach program is designed and hosted exclusively for women by the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (O.F.A.H.). The province’s largest conservation-based organization has added a spring weekend for 2010 to help it meet the huge demand for the only provincial educational outreach program of its kind.

Women’s Outdoor Weekends are held at the Kinark Outdoor Centre near Minden. The spring session runs during weekend of Mother’s Day, May 7-9, and is expected to fill quickly. The fall event will run September 10-12, with registration for that weekend opening in May.

“We are really excited to be expanding the Women’s Outdoor Weekend in response to women’s increasing interest in outdoor activities,” says Alesha Caldwell, O.F.A.H. Events Representative. “We hope that by offering a spring and fall event, we’ll be able to accommodate women who haven’t previously had the opportunity to take part in an outdoor weekend and to continue to welcome previous participants. The spring and fall events will feature the same winning combination of outdoor activities, food and entertainment, and networking that has proven so successful for 15 years.”

Space is limited at each event. The weekend is all-inclusive, and features meals, cabin accommodations and all program equipment. To register, go online to or call Jane Beggs at 705-748-6324 ext 232.

With over 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters and 660 member clubs, the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters is the leading fishing, hunting and conservation-based organization in Ontario. To learn more, visit
