TackleShare Comes to Bowmanville this weekend

Borrow fishing gear for free at Darlington Provincial Park

Whether you are eager to drop a line in the water and try fishing for the first time, or don’t have access to the gear needed to enjoy fishing, the OFAH/OPG TackleShare Program has you covered.

Head over to Darlington Provincial Park (picnic area #4) this weekend as the TackleShare crew will be on site with everything anglers need to cast a line, including rods, reels, tackle and bait. Specific to new anglers, the TackleShare crew will deliver an interactive educational workshop, which includes introductory fishing instruction and lessons on aquatic habitat and conservation.

What:  Local media are invited to attend the day’s event, which will feature some fantastic photo and video opportunities highlighting youth learning to fish for the first time, guided by qualified instructors who are eager to pass on their passion for fishing and conservation.
Date & Time: August 27, 2016 from 1 p.m to 4 p.m.
Where: Picnic area #4, 1600 Darlington Park Road, Bowmanville, Ont.

Operated by the OFAH, the TackleShare Program loans gear to the public from over 140 loaner sites throughout Ontario, and brings fishing gear to a variety of events in different locations during the summer. The program is designed to break down the barriers that prevent new and young anglers from getting out on the water, and to help them experience the fun and excitement of fishing.  Visit www.tackleshare.com for details.

OPG is an Ontario’s largest, clean electricity provider, and proud sponsor of the TackleShare Program. Water at any of OPG’s 65 hydroelectric stations can become dangerous in seconds.
