TackleShare is coming to Port Hope on August 21

Borrow fishing gear for free at the Fish Cleaning Station

Whether you are eager to drop a line in the water and try fishing for the first time, or don’t have access to the gear needed to enjoy fishing, the OFAH/OPG TackleShare Program has you covered.

Head over to the Fish Cleaning Station in Port Hope this Monday, as the TackleShare crew will be on site with everything anglers need to cast a line, including rods, reels, tackle and bait. Specific to new anglers, the TackleShare crew will deliver an interactive educational workshop, which includes introductory fishing instruction and lessons on aquatic habitat, conservation and water safety.

What: Local media are invited to attend the day’s event, which will feature some fantastic photo and video opportunities highlighting youth learning to fish for the first time, guided by qualified instructors who are eager to pass on their passion for fishing and conservation.

Date & Start Time:    August 21 at 9:00 am

Where: EASY TO FIND – 90 Mill Street South, Port Hope, Ont.

TackleShare is an initiative of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) and is proudly supported by Ontario Power Generation (OPG). Visit www.tackleshare.com for details.

TackleShare loans fishing gear to the public at more than 140 loaner sites across Ontario, and brings the gear and hands-on excitement to a variety of events in different locations throughout the summer. TackleShare is designed to break down the barriers that prevent new and young anglers from getting out on the water and enjoying the excitement of fishing. Follow TackleShare on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

OPG is Ontario’s largest, clean electricity provider, and proud title sponsor of the TackleShare program. Water at any of OPG’s 66 hydroelectric stations and 241 dams can become dangerous in seconds. Remember to stay clear and stay safe of hydro dams and stations. Visit www.opg.com/watersafety  for more information.

With more than 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters, and 740 member clubs, the OFAH is the largest non-profit, fish and wildlife conservation-based organization in Ontario. For more information, visit www.ofah.org.
