Town of Halton Hills – Discharge Bylaw Discussion

Please be advised that on November 20, the Town of Halton Hills will be hosting a Community Affairs Committee Meeting, which they will be discussing draft Discharge of Firearms Bylaw #94-074.   The meeting will start at 3:00 p.m. in council chambers located in the Halton Hills Civic Centre at 1 Halton Hills Drive.

We would appreciate and welcome any OFAH member, fellow hunter, trapper, and/or recreational shooter who would be able to attend the meeting.  If we do not show enough support or provide further input, it could result in an expanded area where the discharge of firearms will be prohibited.  That would mean a loss of hunting, trapping, and/or recreational shooting opportunities for all.

The OFAH has submitted a letter outlining our concerns with how the draft bylaw is written (attached for your reference), but we would also like to hear from you, should you have additional concerns.

If you are unable to attend and have specific questions (or comments) about the bylaw, and would still like and have your voice heard, please send an email to Marina Booton, Supervisor of Enforcement Services for the Town of Halton Hills at marinab@haltonhills.ca.

We would also respectfully ask that you copy OFAH head office on your email at brian_mcrae@ofah.org (Brian McRae, zone/member & club services liaison).

We appreciate your support and assistance on this matter.
