Nick DiPardo got the idea for the Nicky 10 hunt stand while sitting in one while moose hunting near Thunder Bay in 2019. Another hunter approaching on an ATV hauling a tree stand stopped in front of him to re-attach a trailer wheel. The hunter ended up flipping the trailer upside down to complete the repair.
“That is the image that stayed in my head for the rest of the hunting trip, and that was how the Nicky 10 mobile hunting stand became a reality,” said DiPardo, who built the first prototype after experimenting with metal tubes and a flat bar.
The Canadian-made, towable, self-supporting 10-foot, 300-pound hunting stand can be set up and broken down in minutes without any tools. Brought to market by Shawn and Suzy Glaab’s Shakespeare-based Outdoor Legacy, the stand retails for $1,749.99.
