The 37th annual OFAH Under the Lock Fishing Derby returns to Peterborough this weekend with over $35,000 in prizes for registered anglers.
Grand prizes include $1,000, $500, two $250 cash prizes plus OFAH summer day camp enrolment, and one guided fishing trip for three.
The Youth Fishing Derby takes place Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m with on-site registration beginning at 8 a.m. It's open to children age 15 and younger. Registration is required at $15 for the first child with $10 for subsequent children.
“The warm weather will be perfect to fish for the 3,000 trout that we stocked ahead of the Saturday morning youth derby,” OFAH Outreach Programs Supervisor David Ryrie stated. “Each brook trout caught wins a prize, plus a hot dog lunch for the youth. Sunday morning will have even more chances to win with 40 sponsored tagged rainbow trout added worth a total of $8,000 in cash for anglers of all ages to win.”
The All Ages Fishing Derby begins Sunday, April 26 at 9 a.m. and ends Sunday, May 3 at 4 p.m, with on-site registration daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is open to both youth and adults. Required registration fee is $25 per adult.
On April 30, All Ages Fishing will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the High School Derby. The creel limit for each day is two fish per angler throughout the nine days of the derby.
