Veterans and active Canadian Armed Forces members who live in Ontario can now visit provincial parks for free, the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks announced on July 20.
The move removed an additional barrier for those unable to visit these parks during the work week, officials stated in a press release.
“We are immensely grateful for the courage and sacrifices made by the brave men and women who dedicate their lives to defending our country and protecting our values of freedom and democracy,” Minister Todd McCarthy stated. “Expanding access to our incredible provincial parks is a token of appreciation for their service and commitment. Through this program, I hope all past and active service members can enjoy everything that Ontario Parks has to offer.”
Veterans and active military members can access free day-use entry to more than 340 Ontario Parks across the province by reserving in advance through the Ontario Parks Reservation Service or by presenting valid Canadian Armed Forces identification.
