Brighton – Sunday Gun Hunting

Attention OFAH Members:

SUNDAY GUN HUNTING WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY OF BRIGHTON APPROVED

On Monday May 17, 2021, council for the Municipality of Brighton voted 4-3 in favour of passing a resolution to approve Sunday gun hunting.

The OFAH would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who showed their support for this initiative. Your assistance was greatly appreciated, and played a key role in seeing Sunday gun hunting approved.

NEXT STEPS

The municipality will now forward the resolution over to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) for final approval this summer. Sunday gun hunting in Brighton will become official and be permitted once the official Sunday gun hunting map is updated August 31, 2021.

CHANGES TO DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS BYLAW

The municipality has amended their current discharge of firearms bylaw to extend out 200 metres from the shoreline in designated residential areas. They have also extended the no discharge bylaw to specifically include Salt Point. Further details to be released by the municipality shortly.
