Get ready to celebrate a cornerstone of Canadian identity with National Hunting Trapping and Fishing Heritage Day (NHTFHD), an official day set in federal law to respect and recognize these activities as part of Canada’s national heritage.
The OFAH highlights this day for its annual recognition of the important contributions of hunting, trapping, and fishing to Canada. The OFAH recognizes Indigenous Peoples of Canada have traditionally participated in these activities, which are deeply rooted in their culture and history. The day is also a reminder that abundant fish and wildlife doesn’t exist accidentally.
“While individuals can participate by simply getting outdoors and sharing their experiences, hosting a club event can amplify the message and showcase the conservation work of OFAH Membership clubs,” OFAH Community Engagement Coordinator Andrea Bauman said.
