Angler Dale Day achieved two major milestones on June 8th and 9th at the Kawartha Lakes Muskie Challenge 10. The Barrie resident became the first woman to win the tournament, and she did so by catching the biggest fish in that tournament’s 10-year history — while competing against 170 anglers.
Day caught the 51-incher on Buckhorn Lake on the second morning of the tourney, while slow trolling with her husband and fishing partner Andzej Jakobczak, public educational director for Muskies Canada.
“The queen was sitting at about 12 to 15 feet in about 30 feet of stained water, resting in a crevice/rock area,” she said. “Being a member of Muskies Canada since 2019, I am thrilled to become a member of the ‘50-inch club’… It’s a milestone achievement.”
