What a difference a year makes. Last fall, electric vehicle (EV) sales were strong with more models due to drop. Governments supported EVs with legislation and generous rebates. Then the T-word happened. Suddenly, EV sales tanked, rebates evaporated on both sides of the border and support for traditional trucks soared. Look at Ram as an example — last year Dodge heralded the REV, an all-electric pickup, while killing the popular gas 5.7-litre Hemi. Today, the REV is cancelled, and the Hemi is back. Trucks Dodge 2026 Ram 2500 Warlock sells for around $80,000 The Ram 1500 (starting at $60,190) features a refreshed design and the return of the HEMI V8 engine, alongside a trio of engine options including the Pentastar V6 and the Hurricane inline-six. Trucks equipped with the 5.7-litre Hemi V-8 eTorque engine are being built at the Sterling Heights, Michigan assembly plant and are available now. When the return of the Hemi was announced, Ram also added a new powertrain warranty to the deal. The 10-year/160,000-kilometre warranty will cover 2026 model-year Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Ram 3500, Ram Chassis Cab 3500/4500/5500 sold in Canada, including the high-performance Ram RHO and Ram Power Wagon. The extended-range electric Ram 1500 Ramcharger features an engine that acts as a generator. It’s still supposed to arrive in 2026 — the Ramcharger name, however, was dropped. A significant engine update for the Ram HD 2500 and 3500 was announced with a new 7.2-litre Cummins turbo diesel for the 3500 and a potential gasoline option for both, for increased power and heavy-duty towing. Two engine options include the 6.7-litre Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel producing 430 horsepower and best-in-class standard 1,075 lb-ft of torque. The other is the 6.4-litre HEMI V8 which delivers 405 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque (standard engine). Ram is also adding two new Heavy-Duty models. Black Express and Warlock variants of the Ram 2500 can be ordered. Chevrolet Chevrolet Silverado EV starts at $67,633 For the Silverado EV, Custom and Plus packages have been introduced, and a Premium package that includes Super Cruise, head-up display, and midgate. Chevrolet will also offer its popular off-road Trail Boss trim as part of the 2026 Silverado EV lineup. With a two-inch lift, the Trail Boss has 24% higher ground clearance compared to the base Silverado EV.
