Ontario Out of Doors (OOD) is a finalist in two categories, Best Patriotic Story and Best Lifestyle Article, in the 2025 Canadian Online Publishing Awards (COPA).
The Consumer category nominations were announced on Monday, Dec. 15.
Contributor David Jackson is nominated for “The wild life,” a cover feature detailing his trek across Ontario’s northernmost reaches with his wife Leah, published in the June-July 2025 issue.
Contributor Ken Doherty is shortlisted for “The history of Small Arms Limited,” chronicling the history of the former Long Branch-area firearms factory first published in the August 2024 issue before being shared online in July 2025.
The 17th annual awards will be held in Toronto in February.
OOD was also nominated in 2024 for Best Email Newsletter Design and Best B2C Website. In 2023, it was a runner-up in two categories, including Best Multicultural Story for Meghan Sutherland’s profile on Brown Girl Outdoor World founder Demiesha Dennis, and Best Digital Edition Publication, for its August 2022 issue.
OOD was also nominated for a 2020 COPA award for Assistant Editor Steve Galea’s How the spring bear hunt was lost and won, a finalist in the Consumer Lifestyle Article/Series category.
OOD was also named Gold Winner for Best Digital Publication (consumer magazines and websites division) in 2015, and a finalist for Best Article or Series, and Best Blog or Column.
