OFAH Insider: The perks of joining a club

Have you ever wanted to share your passion for the outdoors with other like-minded people? Get involved with an OFAH-affiliated club.

Have you ever wanted to share your passion for the outdoors with other like-minded people? While a quiet morning in a deer stand or a solo cast at dawn is rewarding, there is a unique, powerful energy found in a community that shares your drive for conservation and the outdoor lifestyle. For generations, OFAH-affiliated clubs — ranging from public shooting ranges to private hunt camps — have been the backbone of outdoor tradition in our province, turning individual passion into collective action.

When you join or form an OFAH club, you aren't just joining a group; you are gaining a massive advantage through unmatched protection and exclusive resources. Here are some reasons to extend your community:

Industry-leading protection: Your club receives $5 million in liability insurance, and shooting ranges get their annual coverage (a $375 value) fully paid by the OFAH.

Community Engagement Program: Launched in January 2025, this program provides your club with support and access to resources and networking with OFAH staff and neighbouring clubs.

Amplified local impact: Clubs are the boots on the ground for conservation, from raising hatchery fish and building duck boxes to monitoring invasive species and hosting youth fishing derbies.

Individual perks: Every club member enjoys $5 million in personal liability insurance, a subscription to Ontario Out of Doors, and exclusive discounts at retailers like SAIL, Avenir, Rogers, and Mark’s.

“Our vision is a thriving, inclusive community where every angler and hunter feels welcome and equipped to be an advocate for the outdoors lifestyle,” OFAH Membership Community Engagement Coordinator Andrea Bauman said. “Whether you are a teacher, a learner, or just obsessed with the outdoors, there is a place for you.”
