Q: If hunting coyote with a .22, is there a limit of three bullets allowed in the magazine, or does that only apply to shotgun shells? Scott Silveira, Cambridge A: Under hunting legislation in Ontario, only shotguns have a three-shell restriction. Federal firearms regulations generally prohibit semi-auto rifle magazines that can hold more than five rounds, but rimfire cartridges (such as .22 Long Rifle) are an exception. For further information on federal firearms regulations, hunters should contact their local police service.
