Q: I am aware that a semiauto centerfire rifle is limited to a magazine capacity of five, but I was told this also applies to centerfire bolt-action guns while hunting. Is this true?
Sheldon Gerber, Lanark
A: There are no hunting regulations in Ontario that restrict the magazine capacity for rifles. As you noted in the question, semi-automatic firearms are generally restricted to no more than five cartridges under federal regulations.
