OFAH Insider: BrokerLink internship wraps up

The 2025 BrokerLink Insurance Conservation Intern, Brendan Gray, is now wrapping up his term after a busy eight months with the OFAH.

Since 2012, BrokerLink Insurance has sponsored an internship with the OFAH, giving a recent graduate of conservation, environmental, or fish and wildlife post-secondary programs an opportunity to experience hands-on policy, education, and conservation work. The 2025 BrokerLink Insurance Conservation Intern, Brendan Gray, is now wrapping up his term after a busy eight months with the OFAH.

Since April, Brendan has helped with the 36th annual Under the Lock Fishing Derby in Peterborough and Atlantic salmon classroom hatchery fry releases with the Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon Restoration Program. He contributed to other OFAH-led initiatives, such as invasive species monitoring and removal with the Invading Species Awareness Program, organizing materials for TackleShare loaner sites, and developing a fishing line recycling initiative with the Community Engagement Program. His contributions to the OFAH policy team through literature reviews on topics such as firearm regulations and fish stocking monitoring has made him an active part of OFAH advocacy work.

“The best part of my internship was how involved I was on the community-level and how it encouraged me to grow new passions I could share with people outside of the workplace,” Gray said.

Gray and the OFAH thank BrokerLink for its continued sponsorship of these valuable internship opportunities. For more on BrokerLink’s insurance offerings for OFAH members, please visit: www.ofah.org/about/corporate-partners
