MSRP: $26.95 USwww.safaripress.com Ammo & Ballistics 6 by Bob Forker is a great resource for the reloader. This comprehensive reference book has load data for virtually every sporting cartridge you’re likely to encounter. All told, there are more than 3,000 sets of load data for 190 calibres. Better still, it addresses current shooting trends by providing ballistic data out to 1,000 yards and recipes for reloading with lead-free bullets. Useful data aside, I particularly enjoyed, and will frequently refer back to, the tables (for iron-sighted and scoped rifles) that describe maximum point-blank range for varmints and large game. These let the shooter know the range they should zero their rifle at in order to maximize the distance in which its trajectory remains inside a two-inch circle (for varmints) or a six-inch circle (for big game). Once sighted to the prescribed zero, the hunter will be able to aim dead on out to the maximum range designated by the tables. That’s truly useful information for any hunter. As if that’s not enough, well-known gun and ammunition guru John Barsness wrote the foreword and several firearms-related articles, and legendary gun writer Craig Boddington chimes in with wisdom regarding ideal calibres for Cape buffalo. This is an impressive book and a fine resource that should be kept within easy reach on your reloading bench.
