UPDATE: On April 8, 2021, Ontario entered into a third provincial emergency under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMPCA) to curb the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
This lockdown is similar to the previous provincial emergencies; the government has not announced any closures to Crown land or outdoor spaces. The majority of parks and outdoor recreational areas remain open to the public at this time for angling and hunting, unless closed by a Conservation Authority or municipality. We know that many of you continue to have questions related to the impact that COVID-19 has had and continues to have on your outdoor pursuits. The OFAH will continue to monitor this situation and communicate any significant changes to our membership.
Please follow all safety requirements laid out by the Province, check with your local health unit for local advice, and check with the landowner of the properties you wish to access for any potential restrictions before going hunting or fishing. Meanwhile, Ontario Parks has closed all campground and backcountry campsites and roofed accommodations including cabins, yurts and cottages while the provincial declaration of emergency and stay-at-home order is in effect. Ontario Parks remain open and continue to provide facilities and services for local and safe outdoor recreation day-use activities.
