The province is launching a new hunting and fishing licensing system, FishHuntON, in 2027. This service will run alongside existing services, with consideration for user preferences.
Features for the new system include:
“Our new FishHuntON platform will make accessing licences and tags easier than ever, so people can spend more time doing what they love and exploring the great outdoors,” Minister of Natural Resources Mike Harris stated in a release on June 29, 2026.
Hunting and fishing licensing sales fund conservation efforts in the province. Anglers and hunters contribute an estimated $3.37 billion annually.
“The OFAH is pleased to see the government take an Ontario-first approach to modernizing the fishing and hunting licensing system. By improving digital service options and maintaining a variety of ways to purchase licences and tags, this new system will provide better overall support. We are pleased to have been involved in this process and will continue to provide input to ensure the needs of Ontario’s anglers and hunters continues to be met,” said OFAH Executive Director Matt DeMille.
