OFAH Insider: Is your club being deceived about insurance?

The OFAH continues to provide industry-leading insurance coverage, and a total member value that far surpasses any other organization.

At the OFAH, we pride ourselves on offering real, made-in-Ontario content — and honesty about what our members actually receive as members of our community. In an era of deep-fakes and online misinformation, you should be able to trust the organizations you support.

Over the past year, I’ve heard from many clubs and members who believe our individual liability insurance is inferior to what another organization offers. At first, we thought it was a misunderstanding. The pattern, however, kept repeating — same story, same comparisons, same claims.

Something didn’t add up. That organization loudly promotes its “superior” primary insurance coverage. The truth? It isn’t primary at all. We’ve confirmed their policy functions exactly the same as ours. Their claim is nothing more than a marketing tactic designed to mislead clubs into leaving the OFAH.

Unfortunately, it’s worked in some cases. We don’t need deception to compete. OFAH continues to provide industry-leading coverage for anglers and hunters, and a total member value that far surpasses any other organization. That’s the real difference.

If your club left, or is considering leaving the OFAH, believing it would get “primary” liability coverage, ask your officials to show you the proof. You won’t find it — because it doesn’t exist.

Need help sorting fact from fiction? We’re here to help.
