Invasive species partners from across Ontario are once again joining forces for the Great Lakes Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Landing Blitz, running from June 29 to July 12.
This binational, multi-agency initiative brings together organizations on both sides of the border with a shared goal: to raise public awareness and encourage simple actions that help stop the spread of harmful aquatic invaders, such as zebra mussels, Eurasian watermilfoil, amongst others.
Throughout the two-week campaign, boaters and anglers across the Great Lakes basin are encouraged to learn more and participate in best practices to protect the waters they enjoy. The campaign emphasizes simple, practical steps through Clean, Drain, Dry that can help limit the spread of AIS. These small actions can go a long way in preventing their accidental transfer between waterbodies.
The 2025 Landing Blitz saw hundreds of partners come together to deliver outreach events, engage directly with water users, and conduct watercraft inspections. These efforts play a critical role in reducing the risk of spreading invasive species between lakes and rivers, helping to protect Ontario’s fisheries, ecosystems, and outdoor traditions.
